Read Psalm 63:7 ESV

“…for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.”

I often hide under the protection of God’s pinions, but the Spirit has been pointing out that I don’t usually sing. And when I do sing, it’s not always for joy-wild, exuberant joy.

Here’s the question. Why not?

Why would I not sing for joy in that place God Almighty has afforded me?

David says he sings for joy because—here’s the reason, the reality, GOD is his Helper. This description sounds like an assistant’s position, but it means a savior, a protector, and a rescuer. A helper comes alongside and shores you up and enables you to do what you need to do.

In recent months, I have been reminding myself that I can sing for joy NOT because there is no toil or conflict or hardship or sorrow or grief, BUT because God is my Helper in the midst of all of these.

Let’s hide under the shadow of His wings and sing for joy.
