The time-base is essential for reliable time-based functions in the communication interfaces. In TwinSAFE (version 3.0), the time base is available as a datatype for the following interface structures: communication interfaces, terminals, serial interfaces, digital input/output, digital I/O interface, USB and PCI.
A current count is a reliable indicator for measuring the instant of the most recent clock pulse. As a result, a current count is used for the calculation of the time base in the TwinSAFE (version 3.0) time-base. The time base is therefore defined by the total number of current counts since the last clock pulse.
Once an appropriate time-base is achieved, the contact signal of the clock pulses with the correct period is established by the sampling pulses. Subsequently, the periodic sampled data are converted to chronological data by counting the number of clock pulses covered by the sampling pulses. The results of this method are the chronological data. By the chronological data, the full system clock can be prepared.
TwinCAT 3 software management and TwinCAT can be installed, operated and managed with Beckhoff PC-Tools. These reference products and portable versions of Beckhoff PC-Tools run on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 as well as Windows Server 2008, and on Windows 8. d2c66b5586
