Multiboot ISO's have been made standard by many distributions and have been a great way to create bootable USB drives. YUMI is the successor to our initial Multiboot ISO tool. It is a Universal Multiboot ISO tool. Multiboot ISOs are still available and are included with the Multiboot ISO tool.
YUMI is a universal tool that can be used to create a bootable flash drive from any ISO file. The tool is simple and easy to use. It supports any type of operating system (Linux, Windows, and Mac) and operating system version (latest version of the ISO file). The YUMI software can be downloaded from yumi.mozdev.org/download/ without charge. Additional features include:
The advantage to using the legacy boot method is that it is possible to boot directly from the ISO image. If you choose this option, then you will need to boot directly from the ISO image. This can be done in two ways:
Selecting the ISO image as the boot device in your system BIOS.
Selecting the ISO image file as the boot device in your system disk.
If you boot from the ISO image in your system BIOS, the ISO image will be booting in the ISOList section of the boot menu. This is the most intuitive option to boot from. However, it is possible to boot from the ISO image in the Disk section of the boot menu.
If your USB drive contains multiple Windows Installers, you may be able to boot into a particular Windows version in which case you should follow the next step to boot from iso image to boot your Windows ISO.
Some applications, such as Java, require that the application directories and libraries are updated to a newer version before the user can update. However, there are some applications that are not explicitly API-specific, such as the X Window System, the X server source code, are automatically updated as required.
