I just bought a yaesu G-450 DC rotator to replace my old G-600 that supports a Hexbeam antenna. I want to adapt the control cabin to the new rotator that has a DC engine, for which I have designed a polarity inverter with two relays. My problem is that Yaesu does not provide schematics or data about the power consumption of the engine. I have measured 20 Vdc at the terminals and I do not know the voltage range at which the rotator can operate. I do not have a regulator. The alternatives are: 18 Vdc, 24 Vdc or a regulator with an LM317. I would be grateful for some information on where to get a maintenance manual or advice.73, EnioEA2HW

It is probably the same engine of the G-450XL, but I cannot be sure because Yaesu does not provide information. This is a problem when it comes to swapping out the outdated and complicated analog control console for a more efficient one like the one you have designed.I want to thank you and the group for the invaluable work and help provided.I have successfully handled my modest old G-600 with an Arduino console and K3NG software for a couple of years.73, EnioEA2J toggle quoted messageShow quoted text El sáb., 18 jul. 2020 a las 0:25, Anthony Good () escribió:This manual for the G-450XL shows 24 VAC: _rotator/Yaesu_G-450XL_user.pdfI'm not sure if the G-450XL is the same as your G-450.A manual for the G-450A doesn't show the motor voltage, however the schematic clearly shows an AC motor on page 19 (PDF page 19, Manual Page 17): :8090/downloads/rotators/yaesu/ham.dmz.ro.g-450a_650a_1000a_manual_and_schematic.pdfSo, I would assume the G-450A is 24 VAC as well.73GoodyK3NGOn Fri, Jul 10, 2020 at 1:20 PM Arsenio Gutiérrez Labayen wrote:Thanks for the help. I am using an inexpensive Drok step up power supply from Amazon to supply 22VDC for the G-450 rotor motor. It is working great for me.Stu More All Messages By This Member displayLikeStats("/g/radioartisan", 0, 169340664, false) Anthony Good $('#timedispmsg169340762').replaceWith(DisplayShortTime(1595079907522624158, false)); #13110 Oh, so yours is DC, not AC? Is the model specifically "G-450" with no letters after it?I've been wanting to create a wiki page with rotator model specifications and links to schematics. I think that would help folks out. toggle quoted messageShow quoted text On Sat, Jul 18, 2020 at 1:51 AM Arsenio Gutiérrez Labayen wrote:Many Thanks Goody, I have measured the output voltage from the console to the rotor and it is 20.4 Vdc. My new rotator is a G-450DC. This model includes a DC motor. This feature needs an inverter of polarity in the relays.Creating a wiki page with rotator model specifications is a great idea and It would be a great help. Many thanks Stu, I have designed a stabilizer to 20 Vcc with a LM317.The image is the módule of the relays with the inverter of polarity and protection.73, EnioEA2JEl sáb., 18 jul. 2020 a las 15:49, Stu W1SHS () escribió:It is the DC model recently purchased new, G-450A. I have measured at the output of the console 20 Vdc, but it is possible that it can work between 20 and 24 Vdc. It would also be important to know the consumption, but that is more difficult without the information from Yaesu.I have designed a 20/24 V source with an LM317 which I hope will suffice.I need three voltages, 12V for the relays, 5V for the Arduino Mega PRO and 20V for the rotator.73, EnioEA2J toggle quoted messageShow quoted text El dom., 19 jul. 2020 a las 0:34, Stu W1SHS () escribió:Yes, I believe that we are indeed talking about the same rotor, as both are using the ~22VDC motor. I suspect the draw is closer to 1.0 amp or so.stu More All Messages By This Member displayLikeStats("/g/radioartisan", 0, 169408700, false) Arsenio Gutiérrez Labayen $('#timedispmsg169438390').replaceWith(DisplayShortTime(1595231717710499780, false)); #13132 Many thanks Stu:At the moment, I have decided to use the original console power supply. I will draw cables (with a rear connector)in parallel with the manual switches on the console and will be able to parallel two relays controlled from the Arduino with the K3NG sketch, hope it works.I will lose space in the radio room but I will gain peace of mind.Thank you very much for the help Stu.
